Melanie: A Tale of Wonder – Synopsis
In this Flash Fiction story, a 60-year-old hitchhiker gets hit by a car in Wichita Falls, Texas in July 1995. After receiving treatment in the local hospital, he decides to enter a talent contest to help out a ten-year-old girl, Melanie, when he learns her father is dying. What happens next has the town and the media buzzing.

About the Author
Ed Benjamin and his family live in the “Front Porch to the Texas Hill Country,” near San Antonio, Texas. After retiring from the Air Force in 1990, Ed serves as a consultant to industry and small business helping them to obtain business with international, federal, state and local governments. He is a recognized expert in the art and science of preparing proposals which help win government contracts.
He has published several books and stories.
