Suburban Cirrhosis – Synopsis

Suburban Cirrhosis - Recovering Alcoholic Poems In English

This book is dedicated to all of the people struggling with addiction and mental illness. I wrote more often in times of trouble than not, but there are also quite a few that are joyous, positive, and fun. All of the poems were written during 2008-2021. During this time and well before, I struggled with anxiety, depression, and alcoholism.

I am now a recovering alcoholic after being diagnosed with Cirrhosis of the liver at age 40. Although it is difficult to look back on some of these poems, as some were written in a very dark state of mind, I wanted to share them with others and give them a glimpse into where my head was. Maybe reading this it will help someone seek help as I should have long ago. Some of these I have not revisited since I wrote them until now.

Cover art by the very talented artist Bolette at SurrellArt.
