About the Author
Elizabeth Alexander is an author, life coach and motivational speaker. She was born in the parish of St. Thomas, Jamaica W.I. in a small district called Dalvey. Elizabeth spent her formative years with a grandmother who taught her the values of serving God and being kind to others. At age 8, she was unable to read or write and was bullied constantly because of her petite frame and learning challenges. Through a series of twists and turns, Elizabeth overcame her challenges and later matriculated from Northern Caribbean University and the University of Wales, London, with a first and second degree, respectively, going on to work at the managerial level in corporate Jamaica. She was the first one in her family to attend this distinction.
A Christian for over 30 years, Elizabeth is passionate about sharing her faith in God. Her past struggles and victory over depression and hopelessness motivated her to reach out to others battling these demons. She hopes her book ‘The Day I Started Dreaming’ and testimony of becoming an international certified life coach will positively impact others. Elizabeth has two adult children – a son and daughter.
In 2006, she won the Blue Cross of Jamaica’s Chairman Award for Excellence in Community service for mentoring young girls in one of the many volatile communities in Jamaica. She also served as Mentor through the mentorship program at her local assembly in Jamaica. She is also recipient of on the job Star Performer awards for 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016.
In her spare time, Elizabeth reads, writes, socializes or goes on sojourns to exotic places within her country. She also enjoys jogging and maintains a healthy and mentally focused life style by exercising 5 days per week and paying strict attention to her diet. She has competed in several half marathons and 5k races with a personal best time of 26.03 minutes.
Elizabeth currently serves as a street pastor with Street Pastors of Jamaica, an organization which care for, listen to and help people who are out on the street between the hours of 8 p.m. – midnight on a Friday night.
