As I already stated in “Losing Weight/Lifestyle Changes“, one of the main goals I have for the first round of challenging myself towards a better and healthier lifestyle, is to cancel any consumption of white sugar.
At the end of that article, I mentioned a so-called coincidence… I accidentally found a book related to none other than… sugar detox. I found the book very useful for what I intend to do. Just in case someone else needs the information provided in the Sugar Detox, I have written a review on this book below.

Having no clue why, I’ve concluded throughout my life that I love Nikola Tesla. At this moment, you may be wondering why my book review starts by mentioning Tesla. You are probably right to wonder, therefore, let me be brief. I am doing it because Tony Milton’s book starts with a quote attributed to this great inventor (from my point of view, one of the greatest that has ever lived).
“Everyone should consider his body as a priceless gift from one whom loves above all, a marvelous work of art, of indescribable beauty, and mystery beyond human conception, and so delicate that a word, a breath, a look, nay, a thought may injure it.”
I loved Nikola Tesla before, and seeing these words now, in my egoism I say I love him even more. And I already felt an attraction to this book, which starts by praising my body.
The author really knows how to make his entry.
“Sugar Detox” will not only teach you why sugar has a negative influence in your life, not only how to stop consuming it, but will also help you rediscover the respect for your body. Nowadays, I believe that this is the most important thing that we must do regarding our human form.
The author asks the reader who may still be distrustful, to start the experiment for only one week. It seems that I’ve read this book in a very proper mindset, because when Tony Milton referred to sugar as “the white death”, this seemed to touch my heart directly.
The book must be read with a paper and pencil in hand. I took lots of useful notes, which I will not mention as a part of my review. I will let you discover for yourself what you knew, what you didn’t and what you have to know from now on.
What I appreciated a lot in this book is that it makes references to scientific sources. This proved to me that the author knows what he’s talking about.
The author shows you how to read food labels, so in the future you will no longer be fooled by the manufacturers. I totally agreed with the author when he also teaches the readers how to deduce the good sugars from the bad, because our bodies need natural sugar for sure.
What I found very useful was that it very well explained how to deal with the sugar when the craving for it attacks you. I didn’t know this one, but I will remember it from now on, one of the best tricks is to drink water with lemon (or serving a mint tea and a fruit).
Yes, the book is filled with lots of tricks that help you on the path of detoxifying your body of this cruel and hidden enemy that we call sugar.
Another very attractive aspect that I found here was the one week diet, where the author challenges the reader to start. Not only does it sound to be very interesting but… it also seems to be so tasty!
There is another very important step explained by the author. When the so-called “toxic hunger” strikes, there will be many uncomfortable body reactions. It is mandatory not to allow these symptoms to crumble your will. All these symptoms are a normal behavior coming from your body.
In a nutshell, as the author also states, sugar detoxification is not going to be an easy process. I totally recommend this book. In case that you intend to renounce on the consumption of this white killer – sugar, this book is a “must read”. In the event that you don’t intend on doing it, I, even more recommend having this book on your shelves. Because… one day you will want to do it, and on that special day, you will be sorry for not having such a treasure in your hands.
