BOOK REVIEW by M.C. Simon

10 Takes: Pacific Northwest Writers - Perspectives on Writing

10 Takes: Pacific Northwest Writers – Perspectives on Writing

The book’s title grabbed my attention making me curious to see how a Pacific Northwest Writer sees the writing world. I am not from the Northwest area and will probably never be, but I was even more curious what the book was about, knowing that Jennifer Roland, the author, is “a freelance and marketing writer with more than 20 years of experience in newspaper, magazine, and marketing environments. Moreover, the author is also a virtual assistant for other writers, helping them build their online presence and connecting with readers.”

“Writing is writing” as the author says, but it is very interesting to meet a group of writers that has come together to share their mindset towards what they know and love about writing.

Interviewing writers of multiple genres, backgrounds and at different stages of their career and various backgrounds, the author succeeds to bring together screenwriters, novelists, short story writers, poets, playwrights, graphic novelists, children’s writers, for this interesting Q/A book.

A book of very original interviews, “10 TAKES: Pacific Northwest Writers – Perspectives on Writing” is a must have for any writer. Written in an attractive style, it is at the same time an enjoyable read and also a very useful source, bringing together insights from several writers.

Not only is every writer bringing their own perspective and expertise to the conversation, but they also give the reader, aspiring writers and authors, many pieces of advice based on their writing experience. Some of them having a very original writing experience while being volunteers in prisons, or revealing methods to write while being in the shower, how to collaborate and networking and how to find your own success.

Hoping that I made you curious about the book, I recommend “10 TAKES: Pacific Northwest Writers – Perspectives on Writing.” You will be surprised by the magnitude of information that you’ll find inside it.

Five stars from me. 🙂
